Medical Instrument Technician (Surgery)

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Provides direct surgical support to patients undergoing surgery including the newest and most complex, state-of-the-art procedures in multi-specialties in the Main Operating Room at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center.

Provides direct surgical support of a highly specialized nature to patients undergoing surgery.

Organizes required supplies (setup, connect, test, operate drills, saws, etc.) and instruments for surgical procedures.

Pass instruments and equipment to the surgeon during surgical procedures.

Ensures the availability of equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures.

Obtains sterile supplies, equipment, positioning devices, instrumentation, sutures, sponges, dressing, linens, etc., for specific procedures.

Performs sponge, needle and sharps count during various periods of all surgical procedures.

Assists in positioning of patients for procedures

Check patient's chart for surgical consent.

Ensures the patient has been correctly prepared for surgery.

Checks identification bands for completeness.
