Project Portfolio Manager (Finance)
We are on a mission to pioneer the world’s next era of play. As we grow across Europe and Latin America, we’re building The Playstack - the technology powering the next generation of sports, gaming, and fan experiences. Join us, and help make it the most widely used platform in the world! From operations, to marketing, to product, we are looking for talented people who will shape how millions of customers play, watch, and connect every day.
You will be joining the Finance Transformation team, which holds overall responsibility for defining and overseeing the Finance Transformation Roadmap. As Project Portfolio Manager (Finance), you will manage the portfolio of projects across the Finance vertical — aligning them with strategic goals, optimising resource allocation, monitoring performance, and managing risk to ensure the portfolio delivers maximum value. The role also requires a hands-on approach, with the expectation that you will step into project management, business analysis, change management, or stakeholder engagement responsibilities as needed to achieve the right outcomes for Finance's internal customers.
What the role involves
Primary responsibilities
- Evaluate and select projects that align with the organisation's and department's strategic vision, analysing proposals to assess their potential impact and business value.
- Optimise resource allocation across the portfolio, identify constraints, and proactively address bottlenecks in collaboration with project managers.
- Track KPIs across all portfolio projects, assess progress regularly, and generate reports to provide visibility into portfolio health and risks.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the portfolio; develop contingency plans and escalate critical issues as needed.
- Prioritise projects based on business value, urgency, and resource availability, facilitating decision-making on project selection, de-prioritisation, or cancellation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across departments, ensuring alignment on portfolio goals and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate portfolio status and performance regularly to key stakeholders, including senior management.
Secondary responsibilities
- Assume a hands-on project management role to oversee business process reengineering and digital transformation projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to scope.
- Conduct business analysis to identify process pain points and define requirements for transformation initiatives.
- Lead change management activity by communicating the transformation vision, supporting employee training, and managing resistance to change.
- Provide support on ad hoc projects and tasks as required.
What we are looking for
- Degree-level education, ideally with a Big 4 background and 3–4 years of post-qualified experience.
- Hands-on experience in a Finance operational role and/or leading Finance projects, ideally including Record to Report processes such as month-end financial close, FP&A, statutory reporting, and direct and indirect taxation.
- Proven experience in project management methodologies and best practices, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate project performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Understanding of financial analysis and budgeting principles to assess project viability.
- Expertise in portfolio management tools and software.
- Leadership ability to guide project teams and manage complex portfolio initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Fluency in English with strong written communication skills.
- Experience working in a multicultural, multi-location environment, with the ability to work independently and prioritise workload as part of a geographically dispersed team.
- Proactive self-starter with the drive and ambition to make an impact within an evolving business.
Nice to have
- Experience in the gaming, digital, retail, or e-commerce sector.
- Experience working within a listed company or high-growth business.
What we offer
- Medical / Health Insurance
- Open Annual Leave
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Training & Learning Development
Additional benefits vary by country and will be shared during the hiring process.
